The House
Archway House has been our home for over 30 years, during which time we’ve combined major improvement work on the house with raising our children and playing host to hundreds of memorable gatherings and events with friends and family in this special place.
Restoring the house and conserving the woodlands and grounds has been a real labour of love for us and it has often meant finding imaginative and creative solutions to the many design challenges that life in a house of this size and Listed status entails, but we think we’ve got it about right!
Two principles have guided all we’ve done in the way of restoration and land management – commitment to an environmentally kind way of life, and a desire to create a comfortable, relaxed family home, whilst maintaining period features.
We try to use eco-friendly products wherever possible and we choose reclaimed and reusable materials over new. All the building work is carried out using traditional skills and crafts, and the land is managed using organic, low impact methods.
